Over the last 2 years, weddings have undergone huge changes. As micro weddings take to the stage and traditional ideas swiftly make an exit, it can be difficult for a couple to know what to do when it comes to making the big decisions for the most wonderful day of their lives. Here at Letter and Lime Design, I get it. I have the joy of speaking and working with couples just like you, every single day. And so, to make things that little bit easier for you both, and to save you spending hours hunting through article after article online, I have compiled a short list of the current trends when it comes to wedding invites.
At this point, it’s important to remind you that although we’re about to highlight some of the key wedding invite trends that are trumping 2022, that doesn’t mean that’s exactly how you have to do it! This is your day, your wedding and your celebration. It’s so important that it reflects you and your relationship as much as possible. So take the following information as lightly or seriously as you like, and use it as a clarifying springboard towards a finished to-do list!

TAKING PRIDE IN YOUR PERSONALITY
Personality, creativity and a quirky style has definitely risen to the surface over the last few years in the wedding world, and invitations are no exception! The traditional approach of a cream coloured paper, with a silver trim is slowly but surely being replaced with wildly creative alternatives. Major Harry Potter fan? Invite your wedding guests with a Hogwarts themed letter! Consider yourself a bit of a globe trotter? Why not invite your guests with a personalised map? Or maybe you’re a bit like our clients, Melissa and John. As keen runners Melissa and John wanted a Marry-Athon and came to Letter and Lime Design with the idea of designing their invitations to look like running bib numbers. GIVE YOUR INVITE THE GRAPHIC DESIGN SHINE
The world is truly your oyster when it comes to the design of your invitations, and in 2022 the possibilities are endless! Invitations no longer have to be delicately structured or pastel coloured. Instead, give your invite a sense of urgency with a bold colour scheme, an eye catching font and some beautiful illustrations. You can also go the extra mile and get your graphic designer to create a monogram for you and your partner. This can be applied to all invitations, thank you cards, wedding menus, you name it! Not a bad way to really put your own stamp on this special moment.
YOU BETTER SHAPE UP
Okay so we have a secret to share. Traditional paper and a traditional square shape is NOT the only option for you in 2022! Let your creativity run wild with not just your theme, colours and font but also the overall shape of your invite. You could shape your invite to reflect the venue you have chosen. Or maybe you lived in Australia for a while and want some Australian-shaped stationary! Or maybe you could go for something similar to our clients Aimee and Carl and shape your invite like an entry ticket for your guests. The sky's the limit! You can also start thinking about the kind of paper you would like to use. Would you like a glossy paper? Super matt? Or maybe the traditional wedding invite is exactly up your street and that’s alright too!

TIME FOR TRADITION
Invitations with a crazy theme, an out-there font and an outlandish shape might just not be your thing. If that’s the case, we have some great news for you. Traditional style invitations are not making an exit any time soon. 2022 is still rocking a simple, glamorous, traditional look and we're absolutely loving it. It’s timeless, it’s practical and it certainly adds that extra bit of class to your magical day.
