COUNTING DOWN TO THE BIG DAY
HOW DOES THE WEDDING STATIONARY PROCESS WORK?
When first meeting all of the magnificent couples and clients that work alongside Letter and Lime Design, the first question often asked is “How does this process work?”. Today, I thought I would try to very quickly explain the Letter and Lime Design process and when you should start having a think about the finer details of your wedding stationary. Hopefully, this is helpful for all of you newly engaged couples (congratulations by the way!), who are currently feeling a bit overwhelmed about all of the information you have to start researching. Let us make it easier for you, and put your mind at ease.
12-18 MONTHS BEFORE THE BIG DAY
It’s thinking time! Have you considered how many guests are on your list? Clients often underestimate how time consuming this process is, so the sooner you have a think about it, the better. This also means that when the time comes to order, you’ll feel confident about your numbers. It’s also time to start thinking about what information you want to provide on your invite. The invitations produced for each couple are bespoke, and it’s vital you know exactly what you need your guests to know. I would also highly recommend that you start searching around for some inspiration! It doesn’t have to be a wedding invite either. Have you viewed a menu that is exactly the right style you’re after? Or maybe you looked at a poster and the colours match your theme perfectly! Inspiration can be pulled from anywhere and everywhere, and now’s the time to get to it.
9-12 MONTHS BEFORE YOU TIE THE KNOT
Send your ‘save the dates’ to your guests! Let your guests know the day, month, year and time of your wedding now. This is particularly important if you have planned your wedding during holiday season, or a time of year when people are particularly busy. (For example, Christmas/New Years Eve!). You don’t have to reveal too much if you don’t want to, but saving the date is highly advised.
6-9 MONTHS BEFORE YOU SAY I DO

Now is the time to finalise your guest list and gather all of your guests' addresses. This can be trickier than you think! Particularly tricky if you’re inviting guests from overseas or you have a friend that doesn’t answer their phone or text back! Get on the ball, and you’ll avoid any pre wedding panic. It’s time now for your consultation, which is usually between 30 - 60mins, where we can chat through everything you’ll need to make your day extra special. We’ll also chat through design ideas and show you some papers for you to have a think about. After this, everything is completed via email. I’ll send through proofs, I’ll amend any changes and make sure the stationary is perfect and nothing but!
3 MONTHS BEFORE YOU WALK DOWN THE AISLE
Time to send your beautiful, bespoke invitations to your guests! This is where things start to get extremely exciting. Your guests start to receive their invites, there’s a pre-wedding buzz in the air, things are almost ready and the time has almost come!
10 WEEKS BEFORE THE WEDDING BELLS RING
The designs begin for your on-the-day stationary. We’re talking menu design, mass/church order of service and anything else you have chosen to make your day shine. It’s starting to feel real now and the butterflies are in full force!
6 WEEKS BEFORE YOU TAKE YOUR VOWS
Send your order of service to your priest, minister, registrar, or celebrant for them to approve. It’s the final touches that make it all come together. Just a few more steps and you’re nearly there!
2-4 WEEKS BEFORE YOU GET MARRIED!
Collect your final on-the-day stationary. Grab yourself a celebratory drink, put your feet up and relax and enjoy! All of the hard work is complete, your special day will soon be upon you and all you have to do is smile, laugh, dance and make it a day to remember. Congratulations!
8 WEEKS AFTER YOUR SPECIAL DAY
Now is the time to send thank you cards to all the guests that made your day so sweet. Thank them for the laughs, the stories, the dodgy dance moves, the hilarious speeches, the gifts, the joy and the fun. You made it and what a wonderful time in your life this is.
It is such an honour to be such a special part of your wedding day and I couldn’t feel more thrilled.
